A couple of months ago, I bought myself the Motorola SLVR L7 on a good deal. I thought to myself, “Now this one I’m going to keep for a long while, along with all the other stuff strewn all over my bed.”
Guess Watch - June 1996, 10 years old
A gift from my Dad when I got 1st position in class (4Sc3, which was the weakest class in the Science stream at SXI). Moved on 5Sc1 the next year.
Parker Pen - 1994, 12 years old
My Grandfather got my Dad to take him to the Chinese Province Association’s 70th Anniversary Dinner, thinking that there was some special gift for him as stated in the invitation card. When it turned out to be just a welcome gift at the entrance, I think my Grandfather “stormed” back to the car and asked to leave for home. Since I was tagging along, I happen to be the happy recipient of this pen. Grandfather passed away at the age of 93.
Bible - June 1994, 12 years old
Family had just moved from Penang to Malacca but I participated in the Boys’ Brigade Convention in Johor Bahru with the 2nd Penang Company to be with the guys one last time. Just after the Company presented me with this Bible as a farewell gift, they all shouted “Strip him!”
Scientific calculator - 1999, 7 years old
I already had an older model but I bought this one as well because it could display all the latest computation and allow mistakes to be corrected. These features were extremely useful during the Statistics course of my degree. Sadly, it has now been relegated to compute total amount for deliveries at a Chinese restaurant. The old one, currently back at home, had one secret feature that this new model didn’t, and that was to work out simultaneous equations with 2 or 3 variables.
Compaq Presario AP2821 - March 2003, 3 years
The 1st major item I had bought with my savings from a year’s work with Solectron. Had intended to buy it for myself and for my brother who was about to study abroad but he managed to get his hands even though he stayed in Malaysia. It has finally got its chance to go abroad with me.
Nikon Coolpix 2500 - 2002, 4 years old
Mum ‘bought’ this 2 mega-pixel digital camera from my aunt but my brother and I have had the most use. It has served me well during my trips to Tokyo, Shanghai, Beijing, Taipei, Hong Kong Airport, Dubai Airport, and here in London. Unfortunately, due to ‘old age’, it has developed ‘near-sightedness’ this past 2 weeks. I might have left it in the Party/Indoor mode for too long that photographs taken in the Normal mode without zoom will turn blank white. Bought a similar model off of Ebay as a supplement, not a replacement, yet. As it turns out, its flash didn’t work so I’m returning it for a refund and bidding for its sister model, the Nikon Coolpix 3500. Hope I win it cheaply.
Levi’s Jeans - 1996, 10 years old
Dad brought this home along with a few other pairs from his factory visits. I know I’ve outworn that pair of blue Wrangler jeans when a hole appeared next to my a***hole, but this one is still holding up.
Motorola SLVR L7 - April 2006
Effectively, it only cost £74.00 but it didn’t come with additional memory and headphones.
How old are your stuff?
I have my arm .. which is about .. 22 years old. Then .. I’ve got .. this brain .. which has started degrading since I was 7. Haha.
David[hmm]

I have various scientific calculators (8)…. all left behind by KUiTTHO students in the canteen, library, computer lab, classes…. hahahaha!
Yeah, you’re the biggest ‘Lost and Found’ guy there.
Don’t forget I was also a big-time ‘Recycler’… never bought any stationary in the whole 4 years of uni as you can find pen, pencil, liquid paper and the lot all around the campus. Cool, eh?
